Just found this little gem of a game and tried it for a couple of mock battles with friends. I reallllly enjoyed the free form character creaton (especially the tech creation system). However, we all found that the summoning rules were FAR too powerful.
for example: a LVL 1 swordmaster pays 12 MP and gets to do a Power attack with Area and +25% boosted damage…nice.
The summoner pays 12 MP and gets to summon shiva which will provide him with a meat HP shield, 3x his stats and 60 TP of abilities with her own MP Pool. That is just OVERKILL. Shiva casts Diamond Dust with Attack Magic, Area and Boost (just like the sowrdmaster). In the following round, Shiva cost only 4 MP and can cast Diamond Dust again for only 4 MP (at 3x Stats) while the swordmaster gets to spend a whole new 12 MP to get same effect.
I don't know if weère missing something here.
My suggestion:
1) Make the summoner pay MP+2 cost every round (for the HP and MP shield the summon grants)
2) Make her base stats 1x stat + modifier with usual cap (to prevent being it overpowered)
3) Each summon receive a number of Tech levels equal to the TEch level of the summon to be divided (to prevent a Tech level 1 summon costing 8 TP to grant 60 TP of abilities)
